// How-to
Bring in your work
Use the path that matches where the work lives now. Imported source documents stay tied to their source; your agents do not rewrite the source copy just because it is in ArtifactBridge.
Import from a company app
- Open Library and choose Import documents.
Select Google Docs, Notion, Linear, OneDrive or GitHub.
- Connect your account if ArtifactBridge asks.
Connected accounts are personal. The import reads through the account you connected.
- Pick what belongs in the workspace.
Choose the documents or repository scope and where they should appear in the Library.
Bring in a local project
Open Upload document → Ask your agent. Point the agent at the folder. The agent scans it and prepares a reviewable import instead of dumping every file into the Library.
The document already lives in Google Docs, Notion, Linear, OneDrive or GitHub and you want ArtifactBridge to keep its source identity.
The useful knowledge is spread across a local folder or repository and the agent should decide what is worth bringing in.
Choose an import method
| You have | Start here | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Files on your computer | Library → New → Upload → Manually | Select files, review the list and settings, then start the upload. |
| A local folder or a project repository | Upload → Ask your agent | A local agent inspects the source and prepares an import proposal for you. |
| Documents in a company app | Settings → Connected apps, then Import | Authorize the account, browse the accessible source, and choose the documents. |
| New work | Library → New | Create a document, spreadsheet, or folder in ArtifactBridge. |
Upload files
- Open the destination folder if you want to file the documents there.
- Open Upload and use the Manually tab. Select or drop the files.
- Check the file list. Remove unwanted files and inspect any rejected-file messages.
- Check the title, destination, audience, access, and agent-change settings that the dialog offers.
- Select the upload action. Check the result for each file before closing.
Supported uploads include Markdown and plain text, Word .docx, Excel .xlsx, CSV/TSV tables, and PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF images. Text files must use UTF-8 encoding. The file-size limit is 15 MB for documents and 3 MB for images. PDF upload is not part of this file picker; convert the content to a supported format first. See Documents and files for format-specific behavior.
Ask an agent to import a folder
- Install and connect the desktop app and a supported local command-line agent.
- In Upload → Ask your agent, enter a source such as
Documents/contractsor the project location. - Select Send to agent, then Send to my agent or a specific tool.
- Allow the browser to open ArtifactBridge when prompted. Keep the desktop app running while the request starts.
- Open the resulting import proposal in the Inbox. Review the proposed documents and destinations before approving.
Sending the request starts preparation. It does not itself add documents to the Library. If the tray does not respond, open or update it and use Retry. The dialog also offers a prompt you can copy into an agent yourself.
Review an import proposal
Check the source, proposed titles, folders, and changes to existing documents. An import may contain several items. Review the actual content and any exclusions, then use the decision controls provided. A failed or empty scan is not a completed import. Open the scan result or ask the agent what it could not read.
Understand the source relationship
A file upload creates content in ArtifactBridge. A connected-source document retains a link to its provider and can be refreshed from that source. Editing a managed copy does not update the original Word file, local folder, Google document, or Notion page. Keep the source and managed-copy roles explicit when asking an agent to work.
