Use the Inbox

Inbox is the one place ArtifactBridge puts work that needs your attention. You do not need to watch every document or Room.

Mention or replySomeone mentioned you or replied to your comment. Open the row to read the comment.

The Inbox is one list. Items that need you sit at the top under Needs you, and the rest follow under Other. Each heading shows how many items it holds. Each row says where, then who did what. Open a row to read the words of a comment or the summary of a change. The picture shows who did it: a person, your own agent, or the owner of someone else’s agent. The time and an icon for the kind of place sit at the right. A comment gives one row, with the most personal reason: the person mentioned you, replied to you, or commented. A mention sits under Needs you, and a reply or a comment sits under Other. When you open the row, it is marked as read and the conversation shows with that comment highlighted. If the conversation was deleted, the row offers the document. When your own agent creates a document or a skill for you, you get one row under Other, such as “Your Claude created a document”. That row leaves the Inbox by itself 30 days after the create. Only you get it, and it sends no push or email. When ArtifactBridge turns off a room webhook that you created, because 10 deliveries to it failed in a row, you get one row under Needs you: “Your room webhook was turned off”. Open it to see the webhook’s address, why the last delivery failed, and how to turn it back on. When you turn it back on, its failure count starts again at 0.

Use the Unreads chip when you want only unread work, and the filter menu when you want resolved history.

When you act on an item, for example reply, resolve, or approve, the item stays in the list and its detail stays open, showing the result. Items you acted on leave the list when you change a filter, refresh, reload the page, or leave the Inbox and come back. Dismiss is different: a dismissed item leaves the list immediately, and the confirmation message offers Undo for a few seconds.

You can dismiss any item from its … menu, also an item under Needs you and also an unread item. Dismiss hides the item only for you. It does not change the work: a question stays open for the other members, and an approval request stays pending. If the item gets new activity later, it comes back. When you dismiss a Room question, your agents also stop reminding you about it. Dismiss on an import proposal discards the import. That cannot be undone, and the message says Import discarded.

To work on many items at once, choose Select, select the rows, then open Actions. Mark as read marks the selected unread items as read. They stay in the list. Dismiss removes all the selected items from your Inbox. An import proposal in a selection is dismissed for you and is not discarded.

You can also use keys in the list. Press J or ↓ to go to the next item and K or ↑ to go to the previous item. Press Enter to open the item, Backspace or Delete to dismiss it, and E to mark it as read. The keys do nothing while you type in a field, while you hold Ctrl, Cmd, or Alt, or while a menu or dialog is open.

Work through the Inbox

Start with items that block another person or agent. Open a row to inspect the underlying work before responding. Different item types need different decisions.

  • Question: answer the request in its linked conversation.
  • Change: review the diff, then accept, reject, or request changes.
  • Access request: a workspace member asked for access to an item that you manage and that they cannot open in a space. Choose Share to add them, or Dismiss to close the request. Nothing is shared until you choose to share. The request closes when the person can open the item.
  • Skill notice: a workspace skill changed for you. The notice names the skill. It says that someone added the skill, that your workspace preinstalls it, or that your workspace requires it. The actions follow the skill’s current install policy, not the kind of notice. At Optional, choose Install to add the skill to your AI tools on your next sync, or Ignore to close the notice. If an owner or admin lowered the skill to Optional after a Preinstalled or Required notice, the notice offers only Ignore. At Preinstalled, choose Keep it to close the notice. Choose Don’t install it to keep the skill off your tools on all your machines. At Required, the skill stays installed, and only an owner or admin can change that. Choose Got it to close the notice. Open notices that say someone added a skill or that your workspace preinstalls a skill are in Needs you. A notice that says your workspace requires a skill is not in Needs you. A notice that you already acted on is not in Needs you either. For each of your machines, the notice tells you if the ArtifactBridge app installs the skill by itself or if you must open the app. Install results show in the ArtifactBridge app, not in the Inbox. A skill notice stays for 30 days. It goes away earlier when you can no longer open the skill’s source document or when an owner or admin deactivates the skill. ArtifactBridge never sends a skill notice as a push notification or an email.
  • Import proposal: check the sources and planned documents before approving.
  • Agent action: inspect the action and destination before granting the requested approval.
  • Failure or completed work: read the outcome and follow its link if a next step is required.
  • A shared document or folder: open the item to go to the document or folder. The Inbox item shows only while you can open that document or folder. If the owner removes your access, or the item is deleted or archived, the Inbox item goes away. A person who joins from an invitation gets no such item, because the invitation already names the item.

Open the surrounding context

Use the Room, document, or change link on an item to read the surrounding discussion. A short Inbox summary may omit an important condition. If you need agent help, use the continuation actions offered for the item or open the Room’s Send to agent menu.

Understand the desktop Inbox

The desktop app groups local wake approvals, items waiting on you, Rooms, maintenance, and completed or failed work. Approve to send authorizes a local agent start. Document acceptance and other content decisions open in the browser surface that owns them. See Desktop Inbox.

Notifications are reminders

Browser push settings and desktop notifications are separate. Quiet hours or an operating-system permission can suppress a desktop notification while the item remains in the Inbox. Check the Inbox directly when you are waiting for work, and check notification settings if alerts do not appear. The browser notification choices in Settings select which notifications a browser shows; the Inbox still shows every item.

On a computer, the browser Inbox can offer once to turn on browser notifications for this browser. Select Turn on or Not now. Either choice ends the offer in this browser, for every workspace and account. To change the setting later, use Settings ▸ Notifications.
